Camping in Autumn

30/10/2016

Gemma at Bumble

This October evening we spark up the bbq and sit back to watch the beautiful orange sunset. This is a reminder of why I love the autumn season for camping.  Summer is fading but autumn offers so many reasons of it’s own to head out to those campsites and #bumbleabout.

Benefits of autumn
One of the first benefits of autumn camping is the fact that you’ll generally find quieter campsites, you’ll have more space to spread out and can enjoy peaceful days at your campervan. Low season site rates also help the pennies go a bit further!

Another benefit for all those nature lovers out there is that the trees are looking great at this time of year. There will be an array of colours surrounding you on your autumn walks, making for some great photographs.  The cooler weather makes autumn walks more pleasurable without the battling the bugs and intense heat.

What to do in the evenings
It’s getting a little chillier in the evenings but you don’t need to worry about this if you have a campervan. Let’s think about it, at home after dark you would just snuggle up in front of the TV, so you can still do the same in a campervan.  I have a little tip for you; make a hot drink (or wine if you choose), and make up the bed. If you have an Ipad then we’ve found the case tucks in neatly to the sunroof of a Bumble Camper. Lie back in bed and watch your favourite programmes that you’ve either been organised enough to download, or log on to the bumble wifi and stream your evening’s entertainment.

Where to stay

The alternative for your evening is to choose your campsite with a pub such as the Royal Oak in the Peak District. Head inside the charming country pub and treat yourself to one of their pies or burgers and spend the evening soaking up the atmosphere with a few well-earned drinks.

Autumn is a great time to get out and #bumbleabout.  Don’t forget to take a jacket, and a torch and get out there to enjoy!
